Minister for Power Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan says government is committed to provide affordable electricity to the consumers.
He was addressing foundation stone laying ceremony of 500 kV Maira Switching Station near Kahuta, Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The Minister said this Switching Station will be completed at a cost of around 7 billion rupees and will be constructed over an area of 80 acres land.
He said this station has a completion period of 20 months and will help evacuation of clean, reliable and affordable energy to the National Grid.
Khurram Dastgir Khan said this project will serve as an interconnection for evacuation of power from Neelum Jhelum, Karot, Mahl, Azad Pattan and Kohala hydropower projects.
He acknowledged the support of China and Asian Development Bank for this project.
