Islamabad: Former Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, China, and the United Nations, Sardar Masood Khan, has asserted that India's unilateral actions on August 5, 2019, violated relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and failed to change the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Radio Pakistan, Masood Khan made these remarks while addressing gatherings at the Institute of Policy Research Islamabad (IPRI), the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), and Foundation University in Islamabad. He emphasized that the abrogation of Article 370 and the associated constitutional changes have undermined the political and legal rights of the people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, he pointed out that demographic engineering, electoral restructuring, and restrictive laws have significantly altered the political landscape of the region.
In his review of Pakistan's diplomatic efforts, Masood Khan noted that Islamabad has persistently highlighted the Kashmir issue at the United Nations Security Council, the Human Rights Council, and various international forums. This approach has helped keep the Kashmir dispute in global focus.
