Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has rejected a news story carried by a prominent English newspaper Daily Dawn about Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s talk with media.
In a video message, the Information Minister said the Daily Dawn published the news out of context and tried to give the impression that continuity and consistency in policies is possible only when there is a one-party system.
He said the news item of Daily Dawn has given a false impression in some parts of the media that martial law has been imposed in the country. Murtaza Solangi said after the publication of this news, many journalists made unnecessary comments on social media.
He said it is not the first time Dawn newspaper has done this, adding that it is sad that a reputable newspaper is publishing wrong news again and again.
Information Minister opined that the media has the right to criticize, but it is not right to blame what we did not say. Murtaza Solangi said such attitudes have nothing to do with journalism and freedom of expression.
