As ‘International Day in Support of Victims of Torture’ is being observed world-wide, today [Sunday], India continues to use torture as a state policy in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a report of Kashmir Media Service, India is using torture as a tool of suppression against the Kashmiris and is using torture in a systematic and institutional manner in the occupied territory.
The report said torture against the Kashmiris intensified since Modi-led fascist Indian regime’s illegal actions of 5 Aug 2019 when it repealed the Kashmir’s special status and imposed military siege in the territory.
Meanwhile, the APHC-AJK chapter in a letter to the international organizations on the occasion of International Day in Support of Victims of Torture strongly condemned the worst atrocities perpetrated on innocent civilians by the Indian forces in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The letter mentioned that the UN General Assembly had adopted a resolution on December 12, 1997 to mark a symbolic day in support of the victims of violence on June 26 every year but Indian troops had set up numerous notorious interrogation centers in occupied Jammu and Kashmir where thousands of Kashmiris lost their lives during the brutal violence.
