Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has said the provincial government has started developing the tourism sector on emergency basis as it is a backbone in the development of the economy.
In a statement issued in Peshawar on Friday, he said the present provincial government has invested greatly in this sector with the objective of providing facilities to national and international tourists as well as creating employment opportunities for the people.
Mahmood Khan said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority has been established to protect the cultural and religious heritage and accelerate other tourism activities in the province.
He said Tourism Police has been launched to act as a first responder and ensure the safety of tourists in case of any incident.
