Measures Afoot to Safeguard Rights of Media Workers: Tarar

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has announced that the government is taking all possible measures to safeguard the rights of media workers. He made these remarks in the National Assembly while responding to a walkout by reporters from the Parliament’s Press Gallery today.

According to Radio Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar expressed concern over the dismissal of media workers by certain media houses and stated that the issue will be addressed in the upcoming meeting with media owners. He assured that a permanent solution will be devised to resolve the matter. The Minister also announced that journalists whose services were terminated by the platform Nukta will be provided employment within the next forty-eight hours.

Regarding the police raid on the National Press Club in Islamabad, Tarar added that a detailed report on the incident will be finalized by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, five bills were introduced in the House today. These include ‘The West Pakistan Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, ‘The Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025’, ‘The Standard Time (Interpretation of References) (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, ‘The Public Private Partnership Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2025’, and ‘The Income Tax (Third Amendment) Bill, 2025’. The Chair referred the bills to the standing committees concerned.
