NA session underway to elect Prime Minister


National Assembly resumed its session at the Parliament House in Islamabad today with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.

The House will elect the next Prime Minister of the country. Two candidates are in the field for the coveted slot. These include the joint candidate of PML-N and allied parties Shehbaz Sharif and Sunni Ittehad Council’s candidate Omar Ayub Khan.

The election will be held through division of the house.

At the outset, newly elected member Jam Kamal Khan took oath today.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq administered him the oath.

In the National Assembly, polling is underway for the election of the Prime Minister.

The election is taking place through division of the House. Lobby-A has been allocated to the joint candidate of PML-N and allied parties Shehbaz Sharif whilst the Lobby-B to Sunni Ittehad Council’s candidate Omar Ayub Khan.

The members are going towards their respective lobbies to record their votes.

Earlier, bells were rung for five minutes to enable the members to be present
in the Assembly Hall. Afterwards, entrance and exits of lobbies were closed till the conclusion of the voting process.
