National Assembly Debates Insufficient Budget Provisions for Next Financial Year

Islamabad: The National Assembly is continuing discussion on the budget for the next financial year. Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed concerns over the proposed seven percent salary increase for employees, arguing it is insufficient given the current inflation rates. He suggested a minimum ten percent raise to better support employees.

According to Radio Pakistan, Raja Pervez Ashraf also called for unity among political parties to collaboratively shape the country's economic future and lessen reliance on foreign loans. He highlighted the importance of encouraging investments from overseas Pakistanis as a means to generate employment opportunities domestically.

Muhammad Ijaz ul Haq added to the discourse by critiquing the projected GDP growth rate of four percent for the upcoming financial year. He advocated for a target of six to seven percent growth, emphasizing its necessity for poverty reduction and improving living standards.
