Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that new requirements for obtaining passports are being implemented as a measure to deter beggary and illegal immigration. During a meeting at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, Naqvi emphasized the importance of completing all legal formalities related to these new requirements promptly.
According to Radio Pakistan, Naqvi instructed that there should be 100 percent compliance with the directive to block the passports of deported individuals. During his visit, he also examined six newly installed Machine Readable Passport and two E-passport machines, which are expected to increase the passport office’s printing capacity and speed up the passport issuance process.
The Interior Minister also met with a German team in Pakistan for the installation of these machines. He expressed confidence that the new technology would enhance the efficiency of passport services for the public. Additionally, Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi provided a briefing on the forthcoming launch of a mobile app designed to improve convenience for citizens.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also attended the meeting, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing passport-related services and addressing issues of illegal immigration effectively.
