Rawalpindi: Pakistan and Maldives have underscored the necessity to strengthen defense ties and have reaffirmed their commitment to broaden and expand existing collaboration, including military engagements and joint initiatives. This resolve was expressed during the official visit of the Chief of Defence Staff of Maldives, Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, who met with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza in Rawalpindi.
According to Radio Pakistan, Major General Ibrahim Hilmy expressed his appreciation for the high professional standards of the Pakistan Armed Forces, acknowledging their achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. This visit marks a significant step in reinforcing the defense relationship between the two nations.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Joint Staff Headquarters, Major General Hilmy was welcomed with a Guard of Honour presented by a tri-services contingent, reflecting the cordial ties and mutual respect between the two countries.
