Pakistan and Ethiopia to Enhance Agricultural and Livestock Collaboration

Islamabad: Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain has announced that Pakistan and Ethiopia are set to significantly expand their cooperation in various agricultural and livestock development areas. The collaboration aims to enhance agricultural research, crop productivity, seed development, climate-resilient agriculture, irrigation, mechanization, and livestock development between the two nations.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister shared these insights during a meeting with Dr. Oumer Hussein Oba, the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, held in Islamabad. Hussain highlighted the opportunities for promoting Pakistani agricultural machinery, tractors, irrigation solutions, and agro-processing expertise in Ethiopia, which could serve as a foundation for further collaboration.

Rana Tanveer Hussain also stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral agricultural trade and improving market access through stronger coordination on sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) standards. He emphasized that increased business-to-business linkages and joint ventures could provide a practical pathway for expanding trade and investment between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
