Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said the state is utilizing all resources to ensure security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
He was talking to Counselor of the Department of External Security Affairs of China Mr Wang Daxue, who called on him in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Rana Sanaullah said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is himself supervising matters pertaining to the security of Chinese citizens.
He said all the culprits involved in Karachi terrorist attack will be given exemplary punishment.
He said a Foreign National Security Cell has been established at the Ministry of Interior, which is aimed for effective coordination to ensure security of all the foreign nationals, especially Chinese citizens, in Pakistan.
He said foolproof security arrangements have been made for Chinese nationals working on various projects of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The Minister said an effective coordination is being ensured between the provinces and the federal government to avert such incidents of terrorism in future. He said Pakistan and China are tied in decade-old historic relations.
During the meeting, discussions were held on bilateral relations and other matters of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on measures to ensure Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
The two sides expressed the determination that incidents like terrorism in Karachi will not affect Pakistan-China relationship. They agreed to further strengthen coordination between the Interior Ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad to ensure security of the Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
The Interior Minister expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of Chinese citizens’ lives in a terrorist incident at the Karachi University.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Wang Daxue said China will continue financial and technical cooperation in ongoing development projects with Pakistan.
He said Chinese leadership gives immense importance to the relationships between the people of Pakistan and China. He expressed the determination to jointly thwart any conspiracy of miscreants to spoil Pak-China relations. He, however, wished that investigation into Karachi terrorist incident should be completed at the earliest and culprits, involved in this heinous act should be taken to the task.
