Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly condemned, in unequivocal terms, the recent statement by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggesting that the Palestinian people should establish a state in Saudi Arabia. In a statement today, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar criticized the remarks as irresponsible, provocative, and thoughtless, emphasizing that they are deeply offensive and undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and an independent State on their historical and legitimate territory.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, commending its steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their just cause. He highlighted that any attempt to undermine Saudi Arabia’s unwavering position and misrepresent its commitment to the Palestinian cause is deeply regrettable.
Ishaq Dar asserted that Pakistan firmly believes in the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital. He rejected any proposal that seeks to displace or relocate the Palestinian people from their ancestral homeland, labeling it a blatant violation of international law, United Nations resolutions, and the principles of justice and fairness.
Furthermore, the Government of Pakistan reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, pledging to continue working closely with Saudi Arabia and other members of the international community to advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people. The goal is to achieve a just, comprehensive, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.
The Deputy Prime Minister urged the international community to denounce the provocative remark and hold Israel accountable for its continued attempts to undermine the peace process.
