PBS Provides Data for GDP, Inflation Evaluation: Spokesperson

Islamabad: Pakistan Bureau of Statistics provides data to diverse sectors for assessment of gross domestic product and inflation. It was stated by Member and Spokesperson of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics Muhammad Sarwar Gondal in an exclusive talk with Radio Pakistan correspondent Muhammad Ahsan Amjad in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, Muhammad Sarwar Gondal emphasized that the Bureau is not only responsible for conducting agriculture, population, and housing censuses but has also undertaken an economic census for the first time. The digitization of data collection is in line with the Prime Minister’s digital vision, aiming to enhance transparency and clarity.

Gondal highlighted that the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics houses the country’s largest statistical hub, commonly known as the statistical data center. He described the digital census as the largest exercise in the South Asian region, involving nationwide geo-tagging of various locations, which allows the public to identify the actual locations of schools, hospitals, universities, and mega stores.

The spokesperson also acknowledged Radio Pakistan’s significant role in public awareness, noting its importance as a national broadcaster and its close relationship with the Bureau.
