Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to form eight working groups to address the problems of agriculture sector and increase its efficiency.
Chairing a meeting of Agriculture Task Force in Islamabad, he also directed to establish working groups on edible oil, wheat, cotton, agricultural financing, harvesters and mechanization, rehabilitation of agricultural research institutes, climate smart agriculture and water management.
The Prime Minister said agriculture is the backbone of our economy; therefore it is among top priorities of the government.
He said the government is paying special attention to research and development in the field of agriculture and directed to recruit human resource on merit in research institutions.
The Prime Minister also directed to take immediate steps to ensure provision of easy loans to the farmers.
