Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally launched Pakistan's first National Youth Employment Policy, aimed at creating greater employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister, while addressing the launching ceremony in Islamabad today, stated that the policy will ensure a fifty percent quota for women in the labour force. He further announced that ten percent of the annual quota will be allocated to startups to encourage young people to establish their own businesses instead of seeking conventional employment.
In a move to bolster skills in technology, Shehbaz Sharif declared that one thousand boys and girls will be sent to China for training in Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence on merit, with all expenses covered by the government. He also highlighted that seven hundred thousand laptops have been distributed among talented students, with two hundred and fifty thousand Chromebooks planned for distribution among high-achieving students this year.
The Prime Minister shared insights into educational advancements by mentioning the establishment of Daanish Schools across Pakistan, which provide Aitchison College-level education to deserving students. He announced the creation of a new Daanish University in Islamabad, anticipated to start classes next year, focusing on technology and technical education, with an emphasis on modern sciences. Admission to this university will be based on merit, aiming to offer quality education to deserving students irrespective of their financial backgrounds.
Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif launched the National Power Sector Innovation Programme and the Skills Ambassador Programme during the occasion, reinforcing the government's commitment to enhancing employment and educational opportunities for the youth.
