Riyadh: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia today to participate in the “One Water Summit” being held in Riyadh. The Summit is a collaborative effort initiated by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank, aimed at fostering global cooperation and establishing a unified international strategy for managing water resources through high-level political commitments.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister will deliver a keynote address at a Roundtable during the Summit, focusing on the themes of restoration, preservation, and adaptation concerning fresh water resources and wetlands. He plans to underscore the various initiatives Pakistan is undertaking to promote water conservation, enhance climate resilience, improve water quality, generate livelihoods, and preserve biodiversity.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif will emphasize the critical need for international collaboration to address the challenges posed by climate-induced floods, u
npredictable and extreme weather conditions, and heat stress on water resources and ecosystems. On the sidelines of the Summit, he is also anticipated to engage in bilateral meetings and discussions with other international leaders.
