Islamabad: A meeting of leaders and representatives of the parliamentary parties was held in Islamabad today with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in the chair. During the meeting, the Prime Minister took the parliamentary leaders into confidence regarding Pakistan-Afghanistan situation and recent tensions in the region, especially in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
According to Radio Pakistan, a detailed briefing was given to the parliamentary leaders, highlighting Pakistan's diplomatic efforts during the recent tensions. The parliamentary leaders of the political parties expressed their views openly, emphasizing the need for national unity, consensus, and solidarity in the current situation.
The participants appreciated Pakistan's diplomatic efforts for peace in the region and stressed the need to further accelerate these efforts, presenting suggestions on the future course of action. They reiterated their strong commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country. Additionally, the participants thanked the Prime Minister for taking all political leadership into confidence in the larger interest of Pakistan.
The meeting saw the attendance of several key figures, including Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Other attendees included Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attaullah Tarar, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Abdul Aleem Khan of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party. The meeting was also attended by representatives from several political parties, including Khalid Hussain Magsi of Balochistan Awami Party, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Faisal Sabzwari of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Chaudhry Salik Hussain of PML-Q, and others.
