Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has called for regional cooperation to implement a coordinated strategy against terrorism, describing it as a scourge devastating for all countries in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the brutal killing of eight Pakistanis in Mehrestan, Sistan province in Iran. In his statement, he emphasized the need for collective efforts to combat terrorism, which poses a significant threat to regional stability.
Shehbaz Sharif urged the Iranian government to ensure that the accused are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice. He also called for transparency in revealing the reasons behind this cruel act to the public.
In response to the incident, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to engage with the families of the deceased Pakistanis and coordinate with Pakistan’s embassy in Iran to facilitate the safe return of their bodies.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad issued a strong condemnation of the inhumane incident. The embassy’s statement pledged full cooperation in the investigation and reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and safety of all foreign nationals within its territory.
