Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to completely eliminate child labour in the country, emphasizing the need to protect children from exploitation. Their messages come as the nation observes World Day Against Child Labour, highlighting the ongoing efforts required to address this critical issue.
According to Radio Pakistan, the theme for this year's observance is "Red card to child labour: Fair play for children, decent work for adults." In his message, President Zardari stressed the importance of aligning with the international community to ensure the safety and education of every child. He reiterated Pakistan's dedication to creating an environment where children can thrive without fear of exploitation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, outlined the government's comprehensive strategy aimed at the complete elimination of child labour. He urged all stakeholders, including employers, workers, parents, teachers, civil society organizations, religious leaders, the media, and the private sector, to unite with the government in this national cause. Sharif emphasized the collective responsibility to safeguard children and promote their well-being.
