President Stresses Importance of Merit, Transparency in Public Service Recruitment

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the significance of merit, transparency, and professionalism in the recruitment process for public service roles.

According to Radio Pakistan, the President conveyed these views while receiving the Annual Report 2024 of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) from its Chairman, Lieutenant General (Retired) Akhtar Nawaz Satti, during a meeting in Islamabad. The President highlighted the FPSC's crucial role in promoting good governance by ensuring the selection of competent and deserving individuals for professional and technical positions in the public sector.

The President commended the FPSC for its reforms aimed at enhancing its internal systems and transitioning towards a more efficient, paperless recruitment process. He urged the Commission to continue upholding merit, transparency, and professionalism, and to maintain the public trust it has garnered over the years.

The President was informed that in 2024, the FPSC recommended 1,816 candidates for appointment to various Ministries and Divisions under General Recruitment. A total of 1,722 vacancies were advertised, attracting 274,566 fresh applications.
