Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized that caring for orphans and ensuring their proper education and upbringing is a collective responsibility of society. He was addressing an Iftar dinner at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad today hosted in honour of orphans under the care of the Pakistan Orphan Care Forum.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari described children as the future of Pakistan during the event. He stated that orphan children would be provided with modern educational opportunities in colleges and universities on a permanent basis, and scholarships will also be allocated for them.
The ceremony was organized to mark Orphans Day, which is observed every year in the Islamic world during the holy month of Ramadan. The day aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by orphans, strengthen social solidarity, and promote comprehensive care, education, and protection of vulnerable children, particularly in conflict-affected areas.
A large number of orphan boys and girls attended the event, highlighting the community's commitment to supporting these children.
