IHC rejects Nawaz’s appeals against convictions in Al Azizia, Avenfield references

The Islamabad High court has rejected PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s appeals against his convictions in the Al Azizia and Avenfield references.

A division bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, announced the reserved judgment today.

In its judgment the court stated that Nawaz Sharif is a fugitive from the law hence has lost his right of audience before the court.

In a video message, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has termed Islamabad High Court’s decision on Nawaz Sharif’s appeals in Avenfield and Al-Azizia references a great victory for the nation.

He said the government believes that looted wealth should be returned to the people of Pakistan.

337 Sahulat Bazaars to be established in Punjab

Punjab government has decided to establish 337 Sahulat Bazaars and Counters across the province to provide essential commodities to the people at subsidized rates.

Approval for establishment of these Bazaars was given at the provincial cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in Lahore.

The Chief Minister directed the cabinet committee for price control to take immediate steps for establishment of these Bazaars and Counters.

Balochistan advancing towards prosperity under Jam Kamal’s leadership: Shehreyar

Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi called on Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan in Quetta today (Tuesday).

During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest and overall political situation in the province and the country.

Shehryar Afridi said Balochistan is advancing towards progress and prosperity under the leadership of Jam Kamal Khan and Prime Minister Imran Khan also wants Balochistan as a peaceful and progressive province.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the provincial government believes in equal development of all districts of the province.

NA Speaker, Deputy Speaker express deep grief, sorrow over death of Usman Khan Kakar

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of former Senator Usman Khan Kakar.

In their condolence messages, they said Usman Khan Kakar was a patriotic political and social leader.

They said his services rendered for the people of Balochistan will always be remembered and vacuum created by his death will never be fulfilled.

In another condolence message, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain also expressed grief over the death of Usman Kakar.

He prayed for the departed soul and the bereaved family.

Fawad terms Shehbaz’s call for holding APC on electoral reforms as absolutely ridiculous

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has termed the call of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif for holding All Parties Conference on electoral reforms as absolutely ridiculous.

In a press statement, the minister said Shahbaz Sharif has bypassed the parliament over the issue of electoral reforms and due legislation.

He questioned that how can the people who are in the habit of election rigging can give suggestions over holding of fair and transparent elections.

Chaudhry Fawad said Shahbaz Sharif has coined a new story after the failure of Pakistan Democratic Movement.

Govt working for development of Gilgit-Baltistan: Asad Umar

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that government is working for the development of Gilgit-Baltistan on priority basis.

Speaking at a news conference in Gilgit today (Saturday), he said under the integrated development plan for Gilgit-Baltistan, 19 mega projects had been included in the Federal PSDP.

He said that 50 billion rupees would be spent on Gilgit-Chitral Expressway under China-Pak Economic Corridor.

Fort Munro Resort would be open soon for tourists after the closure of three years.

Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar have directed the secretary tourism to ensure restoration at earliest to facilitate tourists at the site.

Secretary Tourism paid a surprise visit of Fort Munro and suspended tourism officer on negligence.

He said that tourists will be given all basic facility in Fort Munro. He said that renovation of shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar RA will be completed soon to encourage religious Tourism.

Info Minister briefs PM on progress of development projects

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad today (Thursday).

He briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of development projects and reforms relating to the Ministry of Information in the current budget besides discussing overall political situation of the country.
