Turkiye Commends NDMA’s Resilience-Building Efforts

Islamabad: A high-level delegation led by Turkish Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Headquarters in Islamabad today. The visit underscored the strengthening partnership between Turkiye and Pakistan in the realm of disaster management and humanitarian response.

According to Radio Pakistan, the delegation, which included President of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Turkiye, Ali Hamza Pehlivan, was briefed on NDMA’s advancements in technology-driven disaster management. The briefing highlighted the implementation of early warning systems, real-time data integration, and risk-informed preparedness mechanisms, showcasing NDMA’s evolution as a leading national coordinating body for disaster risk management.

The discussions during the visit reinforced the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye in enhancing humanitarian response capabilities and building resilience. Ali Yerlikaya praised NDMA’s proactive initiatives, emphasizing the importance of resilience-building efforts and modern preparedness systems in effectively managing disasters.

The Turkish delegation expressed keen interest in establishing a Joint Pak-Turkiye Facility in Pakistan, aimed at furthering technology-based collaboration with NDMA and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Turkiye (AFAD). This initiative would serve to strengthen disaster preparedness and climate resilience efforts, ensuring both nations are better equipped to handle future challenges.
