Amnesty International on Tuesday called on the United Arab Emirates to investigate what it said were racially motivated detentions and deportations of African migrant workers and for appropriate restitution. Last month, the Gulf Arab state said it arrested 376 men and women on 24-25 June for various crimes, including human trafficking, prostitution, extortion and assault. “Those arrested were found to be involved in these crimes,” the interior ministry said in a statement at the time.
