Islamabad: The United Kingdom has appreciated Pakistan's mediation efforts and lauded its role in promoting global peace. This commendation was expressed during a meeting between Pakistan's Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, held in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, Jane Marriott acknowledged Pakistan's effective handling of the petroleum supply situation and its positive diplomatic engagements with both the United States and Iran. She emphasized Pakistan's constructive role in maintaining regional stability.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik reiterated Pakistan's commitment to advancing peace and stability through negotiations and diplomatic engagement. He highlighted Pakistan's success in maintaining a steady petroleum supply through timely interventions, with the support of friendly nations such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates during periods of uncertainty.
The Minister also addressed domestic policies, stating that the government is actively providing protection to vulnerable groups through targeted subsidies. Additionally, he noted that fertilizer prices in Pakistan are significantly lower, at one-third of those in neighboring countries.
The meeting further explored avenues for cooperation in regulatory and institutional strengthening between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, paving the way for enhanced bilateral relations.
