Islamabad: Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal has announced a concerted effort to dispel misconceptions surrounding polio immunization and educate the public on the critical importance of vaccination against the disease.
According to Radio Pakistan, Kamal addressed a news conference in Islamabad, revealing that six polio cases have been reported in Pakistan this year. He emphasized the need for a robust public awareness campaign to eliminate the virus and highlighted the urgency of the upcoming vaccination drive.
The Minister disclosed that a nationwide week-long polio campaign is scheduled to begin next Monday. The campaign will see the participation of over four hundred thousand polio workers dedicated to administering the vaccine and reaching as many individuals as possible.
Kamal expressed his commitment to eradicating the polio virus in Pakistan by the end of the year, underscoring the government’s determination to tackle the issue head-on.
