Tibet to launch tourist route featuring countryside experience

LHASA, China, Oct. 16, 2021 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/ — A tourist route around Lhasa, capital of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, will be launched to offer countryside experiences, according to local tourism authorities.

The route will include Tibetan villages, farming and herding areas and folk craft sites with distinct local characteristics, as well as diverse types of natural landscapes.

Improving local infrastructure is expected to boost the popularity of the route, which will help villagers along the route increase their income, said Ni Rong, deputy head of the Lhasa tourism development bureau.

With over 3,000 hours of sunshine on average per year and a rich trove of cultural relics, Lhasa is a world-renowned ancient cultural city and tourist destination.

Statistics showed that in 2020, Lhasa received more than 20.08 million domestic and foreign tourists, with tourism revenue amounting to 30.1 billion yuan (4.64 billion U.S. dollars).

Mainly dry weather likely to prevail in most parts of country

Mainly dry weather is likely to prevail in most parts of the country during the next twelve hours.

However, rain with wind and thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and its adjoining areas.

Temperature of some major cities recorded this morning:

Islamabad fifteen degree centigrade, Lahore twenty-two, Peshawar sixteen, Karachi twenty-one, Quetta six, Gilgit seven, Murree fourteen and Muzaffarabad thirteen degree centigrade.

According to Met Office forecast for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, partly cloudy weather with chances of rain and thunderstorm is expected in Srinagar, Jammu, Shopian, Barmaula, Leh, Pulwama, and Anantnag.

Temperature recorded this morning: Srinagar ten degree centigrade, Jammu nineteen, Leh two, Pulwama and Shopian nine, Anantnag and Baramula eight degree centigrade.

Govt revises prices of petroleum products

The government has increased the prices of petroleum products in view of their increase in the global market.

According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry, the price of petrol has been increased by 10.49 rupees per liter, high speed diesel by 12.44 rupees , Kerosene by 10.95 rupees and Light Diesel Oil by 8.84 rupees per liter.

At present, oil prices have risen around 85 dollars a barrel, which are the highest since October 2018.

The notification further said that in the current scenario, the government has absorbed the pressure and provided maximum relief to the consumers by keeping Petroleum Levy and Sales Tax to minimum.

Pakistan Finally Launch Their T20 World Cup Kit

Much to the excitement of the fans, Pakistan has finally launched its kit for the upcoming 2021 T20 World Cup. Pakistan is the third team in the Super 12s stage of the tournament to officially release the kit, South Africa and India were the other two teams who recently unveil their jerseys.

Pakistan has opted for a unique design this time around. While they have stuck with their traditional green and gold theme, it also features a unique part that runs through the entire jersey.

The kit was unveiled in a jaw-dropping video uploaded on Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) official account on various social media platforms.

Pakistan cricket fans can also support their team by buying the official merchandise from PCB’s merchandise store. The Men in Green’s official T20 World Cup jersey is on sale now.

Pakistan cricket team has already traveled to UAE in preparation for their T20 World Cup campaign. The Men in Green have a tough fixture list ahead of them in the competition. Their first match of the tournament will be played against arch-rival India on 24 October at Dubai International Stadium. Their second match will be played only two days later on 26 October against New Zealand at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

ICC Announces Star-studded Commentary Panel for T20 World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a star-studded commentary and broadcasting line-up for the upcoming 2021 T20 World Cup. The panel includes the likes of renowned cricket commentators Nasser Hussain, Ian Bishop, Michael Atherton, Mark Nicholas, Harsha Bhogle, Alan Wilkins, Danny Morrison and Mpumelelo Mbangwa including several others.

Former two-time T20 World Cup winning captain, Darren Sammy, legendary South African pacer, Dale Steyn and 2021 T20 World Cup player of the tournament, Shane Watson will also be making their commentary debuts in the mega event.

Former middle-order batter, Bazid Khan is the only Pakistani commentator included in the panel.

Pakistan cricket fans will be able to enjoy the T20 World Cup through various mediums. The coverage of the T20 World Cup will be live on PTV Sports and newly launched A-Sports on TV while the tournament will also be available to stream on Daraz.pk or Daraz mobile app.

The 2021 T20 World Cup is set to commence from 17 October with the first match between Oman and Papua New Guinea in the first round of the tournament. The final of the tournament will be played on 14 November at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

KP: Crackdown against unvaccinated people in full swing

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, action against unvaccinated people and violators of Corona SOPs is in full swing.

In Peshawar, the teams of district administration along with the health department visited various educational institutions and vaccinated hundreds of students against Coronavirus.

On this occasion, notices were issued to the owners of various private schools for non-vaccination of staff and students.

Similarly, various teams headed by Assistant Commissioners checked the markets and marriage halls in the provincial capital.

In district Bajaur, Additional Assistant Commissioner Khaar, visited Civil Colony and reviewed the vaccination process on the spot.
