Ministry of Maritime Affairs donates Rs70m to PM Relief Fund

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs has donated 70 million rupees to Prime Minister Relief Fund.

Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Faisal Sabzwari presented the cheque to the Prime Minister in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Port Qasim Authority donated 50 million rupees, while Karachi Port Trust contributed twenty million rupees.

UNHCR inks agreement with PDMA Sindh to provide relief goods to flood victims

The United Nations High Commission for Refugees has signed an agreement with Provincial Disaster Management Authority Sindh to provide relief goods for the flood victims.

The agreement was signed during the meeting of the Assistant Representative of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Pakistan Leyla Nugmanova with the Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi today (Tuesday).

Under the agreement, these items will be provided to the PDMA Sindh in the next few days.

The delegation of the UNHC for Refugees was also briefed by Chief Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput about the damages caused by rain and flood.

Army Chief, US Congressional delegation discuss regional security

A Congressional delegation of the United States, currently on visit to Pakistan, called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

According to ISPR, the delegation comprising Sheila Jackson Lee, Thomas Suozzi and Alexander Green expressed grief over the devastation caused by ongoing floods in Pakistan and extended condolence to the families of the victims.

They offered United States’ support to the people of Pakistan in this hour of need.

They also discussed matters of mutual interests, regional security situation and bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The visiting dignitaries appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional stability and pledged to play their role in enhancing cooperation with Pakistan at different levels.

Speaking on the occasion, the Army Chief thanked the United States for its support and reiterated that assistance from our global partners is vital in rescue and rehabilitation of the flood victims.

Earlier, the US delegation also visited the flood affected areas of Sindh where they were briefed on relief and rescue operations.
