Senate by-polls on vacant seats to be held on March 14


By-elections on the six vacant seats of the Senate will be held on March 14.

These seats were vacated by Syed Yousuf Raza Gillan, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, Prince Ahmed Umer Ahmedzai, and Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti.

World leaders felicitate Shehbaz Sharif on assuming PMO


The world leaders felicitating Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on assuming the office of Prime Minister have wished for development and prosperity of Pakistan.

In his message on behalf of the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, said the United Nations looks forward to continuing cooperation with the country on a wide array of issues.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his message of felicitation, highlighted friendly nature of Russia-Pakistan relations.

He also wished Shehbaz Sharif every success in his important capacity as head of the government.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning, in a regular press briefing in Beijing, expressed hope that Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif can achieve a greater accomplishment in the cause of national development.

In his post of social media platform X, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulaed to Shehbaz Sharif on taking the oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Crown Prince of
Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, in a cable message, wished Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif success, and the people of Pakistan steady progress and prosperity.

The Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, in their separate messages wished Shehbaz Sharif’s success and for further development and growth of bilateral relations.

President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan telephoned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and expressed his belief that relations between Turkiye and Pakistan will deepen and expand during the new period.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, in his message of felicitation, expressed determination to further strengthen the relationship between both Islamic brotherly countries.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has telephoned and felicitated his newly elected counterpart Shehbaz Sharif on taking oath of his office.

Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas, in his message, e
xpressed his best wishes for the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the nation.

In his letter of felicitation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that through joint efforts, both the countries would enhance and expand long-term bilateral partnership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Tajik President for his felicitations and good wishes. The two leaders reaffirmed their desire to enhance the existing bilateral political, trade, economic, cultural and defence cooperation and agreed to remain closely engaged in this regard.

President of Kenya William Samoei Ruto, in a message of felicitation on his official social medial handle X, said Kenya looks forward to working with the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan in escalating bilateral ties for the prosperity of the people of the two countries.

In a letter written to Shehbaz Sharif today, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed hope that under his wise and able leadership, Pakistan will continue its stead
fast progress towards building a yet stronger and more prosperous society.

The Kazakh President said his country highly values its partnership with Pakistan and is committed to further broaden political dialogue and economic engagement.

He assured Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of his readiness to work closely with him to further elevate the two countries’ mutually beneficial cooperation. He wished peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Pakistan.

US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome, in his message of felicitation on social media platform X, said his country looks forward to working closely with new government and people of Pakistan on mutual interests.

Rescue operation of Pakistan Army underway to restore traffic in GB


Rescue operation of Pakistan Army is continuing to restore traffic at different roads of Gilgit-Baltistan, which were blocked due to torrential rains and land-sliding.

According to the details, the contingents of Frontier Works Organization safely rescued a commercial convoy coming from China to Sust Port of Pakistan.

The troops also cleared the landslide-affected Karakoram Highway and Jaglot-Skardu Road.

They also provided cooked food and medical facilities to the stranded travellers including foreigners.

Punjab Govt plans to build over 3000 houses for low-income people


Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that providing shelter to poor strata of society is PML-N’s manifesto and we will fulfill our promise.

Presiding over a meeting regarding ‘Apni Chaat Apna Ghar’ project in Lahore today, the Chief Minister sought a comprehensive plan to implement the announcement of constructing one hundred thousand houses.

It was decided in the meeting that over three thousand houses will be built for low-income people in every district of Punjab.

She directed officials to build model houses within six weeks and keep down payment and monthly installments lower.

The Chief Minister directed officials to prioritize construction standards and sustainability in these houses.

US terms Maryam’s election as first woman CM Punjab a ‘milestone’


The United States has welcomed Maryam Nawaz’s election, the first woman Chief Minister, as a milestone in Pakistani politics.

Speaking at a news briefing in Washington, State Department Spokesperson Mathew Miller said the US looks forward to cooperate with Pakistan broadly on integrating women fully into the country’s political life, in the economy and other decision-making spaces.
