UN Chief felicitates Shehbaz Sharif on becoming PM of Pakistan


UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has congratulated Shehbaz Sharif after he was sworn-in as Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Stephane Dujarric, the UN Chief’s spokesperson, in a statement said the UN looks forward to continuing cooperation with the country on a wide array of issues.

Punjab CM directs to ensure high standard of quality items in Ramzan package


A meeting on the transparent distribution and monitoring of the Ramzan package, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, was held in Lahore today.

The meeting was briefed that a transparent, foolproof system has been devised for the provision of Ramzan Package among beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister was briefed about the distribution of Punjab’s largest Ramzan relief package in history.

During the meeting, it was apprised that the distribution of the Ramzan Package is being supervised with the help of the live dashboard and modern technology.

The meeting briefed that a helpline has also been set up for complaints which will be formally inaugurated tomorrow.

Addressing the meeting, Punjab Chief Minister directed to ensure the high standard of quality of items in the Ramzan package.

She said she will not tolerate any compromise on the quality of items including flour, ghee, sugar, and other edible items.

For the first time in history, the Ramzan package will be delivered to every eligible ho
usehold at doorstep.

Election for office of President to be held on March 9


Election for the office of President will be held on Saturday.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till today and final list of the candidates will be published the same day.

Polling for office of the President will be held on Saturday at the Parliament House in Islamabad and in all the four provincial assemblies.

Nomination papers of joint candidate of PML-N and PPP Asif Ali Zardari and candidate of Sunni Ittehad Council Mahmood Khan Achakzai have been filed for the election of president.

Int’l Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness being observed today


International Day for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Awareness is being observed today.

The day seeks to promote better awareness and understanding of disarmament issues among the public, especially young people.

It also plays a role in deepening the global public’s understanding about how disarmament efforts contribute to enhancing peace and security, preventing and ending armed conflicts, and curbing human suffering caused by weapons.

PM vows to provide immediate relief to rain-affected people of Gwadar


Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that no stone will be left unturned to provide relief to flood affected people of Gwadar.

He said this on occasion of a briefing given by Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik about losses and relief activities in Gwadar and other flood-affected areas of province during flight.

The Prime Minister directed to devise a system for early detection of natural calamities through utilizing modern technology and satellite.

He directed to submit an early report on restoration of affected communication infrastructure and detailed assessment of damage.
