PM lauds Qatar’s contribution to peace efforts in Gaza


Ambassador of Qatar Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday.

Shehbaz Sharif thanked Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani for their warm messages of felicitations on his re-election as Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is proud of its close, fraternal relationship with Qatar, with bilateral ties having the potential to grow even stronger and meaningful, particularly in the areas of economy, trade and investment.

He highlighted that the Special Investment Facilitation Council that was established during his previous tenure as Prime Minister, is now functioning as an efficient and productive mechanism. It is ensuring that foreign investors are able to benefit from investment opportunities in Pakistan’s key sectors like agriculture, Information Technology, mining and minerals as well as renewable energy.

he Prime Minister lauded Qatar’s contribution to peace efforts in Gaza. He said it is disappointing that violence is continuing in Gaza even during the holy month of Ramadan.

Shehbaz Sharif fondly recalled his official visits to Qatar in August 2022 and March 2023. He extended an invitation to the Amir of Qatar to undertake an official visit to Pakistan and said the people of Pakistan look forward to welcoming him in the near future.

The Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister and said he would do his best to foster stronger ties between the two countries.

Pak-China friendship serves as anchor for regional peace, development: President


President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed his commitment to work closely with Chinese President Xi Jinping to deepen practical cooperation, strengthen the all-weather partnership, and foster a shared community for the benefit of the two countries.

In a letter to the Chinese President, he said Pakistan and China share a unique bond forged in the crucible of history and nurtured by mutual respect, understanding, and common views on all global issues.

The President said this solid friendship serves as an anchor for regional peace, stability and development.

Asif Ali Zardari said Pakistan and China are not merely neighbours, but iron-clad brothers fully committed to the success of our All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

The President noted with satisfaction that Pakistan and China had made significant progress in the diverse fields of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the development of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He said that President Xi’s unstinting support would remain instrum
ental in achieving CPEC’s continued development and meeting the two peoples’ shared objectives of progress and prosperity.

The President thanked the Chinese President for extending him warm congratulations on his re-election as the President of Pakistan.

Pakistan to strengthen bilateral ties with Vietnam


Pakistan is keen to strengthen bilateral ties with Vietnam in all spheres of mutual interest.

The desire was expressed by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Vietnam, Samina Mehtab during her farewell meeting with President of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong in Hanoi.

President of Vietnam noted that the relationship between two countries is on upward trajectory and Vietnam is always ready to work with Pakistan to further promote this relationship.

He also extended an invitation for the President of Pakistan to visit Vietnam in near future.

ECP rejects rumours about CEC being appointed ambassador


The Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected the misleading rumour about the Chief Election Commissioner that he is being made an ambassador in a foreign country.

The commission in a statement today termed the rumour as totally baseless.

It said neither the government has made any such offer to him nor he intends to do so. He will remain in his country even after completing his tenure and is not seeking any overseas assignment.

The commissioner further said the creator of such rumours and those who spread them further are warned to demonstrate responsibility. Otherwise legal action will be taken against the culprits.

The statement further said that the Chief Election Commissioner knows very well how to deal with such miscreants.
