CM Punjab allows use of her helicopter for emergency shifting of patients


Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has allowed the use of her helicopter for the emergency shifting of patients.

Chairing a meeting of Air Ambulance Project in Lahore today, she said an air ambulance service will also be launched soon in Punjab.

She said many lives are lost for not reaching the hospital in time. She emphasized that in case of an accident in far-flung areas, transportation of affected people to the hospital is vital.

She said that the Rescue 1122 service will also be started on the motorway.

Data-Fest to be organized in May this year: Ahsan


Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said census data can be used for future planning to improve governance, promote business and strengthen economy.

Addressing a news conference after visiting Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in Islamabad this afternoon, he said a Data-Fest will be organized in May this year, enabling the private and public sector, civil society, academia, federal and provincial governments to use the census data effectively.

Expressing concerns on population growth ratio of 2.55 percent, the Minister urged the provincial governments to make their population control programmes more effective to curtail the rising trends of country’s populace.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said the data collected through 7th Population and Housing Census-2023 is a strategic resource for data driven policymaking.

He said it is the time to get the benefits from the digital Population Census that was conducted last year and was approved unanimously.

Senate elections: Deadline for filing nomination papers ends on Saturday


Nomination papers for Senate elections on forty-eight vacant seats can be filed till tomorrow.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan, polling will be held on 2nd of next month.

The 19th of this month has been fixed for scrutiny of nomination papers.

Revised list of the candidates will be issued on 26th of this month whilst candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by 27th of this month.

Pakistan Railways sets record with longest, heaviest freight train run in history


Pakistan Railways has set a record with the longest and heaviest freight train run in their history.

According to the spokesperson, the freight train, stretching over 2,500 feet and comprising fifty coaches, was propelled by the robust GE U40 locomotive engine.

Departing from Karachi, the train carried over 3,000 tons of cargo to Kotri.

This initiative will not only reduce load on road traffic but also contribute to environmental preservation by minimizing pollution.

President of Azerbaijan felicitates President Zardari


President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has felicitated Asif Ali Zardari on his election as the President of Pakistan.

In a message, the President of Azerbaijan said elevated level of mutual understanding between the two nations provides a promising foundation for further broadening ties in various sectors.
