Info Minister for verification of news prior to dissemination


Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar says fake news is a major challenge worldwide and there is need to devise a code of conduct to check the issue.

He was talking to Political Counselor of British High Commission Zoe Ware, who called on him in Islamabad on Thursday.

Matters related to the bilateral cooperation in diverse fields including media, film and drama came under discussion.

The Minister urged the journalists’ community to verify credibility of news stories especially on social media before their dissemination.

Speaking on the occasion, the Political Counselor of British High Commission felicitated Attaullah Tarar on assuming the office of the Minister for Information and Broadcasting and assured her full cooperation in promoting the Pak-UK ties in diverse fields.

PM lauds services of Pakistan Navy to safeguard maritime interest of country


Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has appreciated the services of Pakistan Navy to safeguard the maritime interest of the country despite limited resources.

He expressed these views during his visit to Naval Headquarters in Islamabad today.

At his arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf and was presented Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out naval contingent.

The Prime Minister laid floral wreath at the Shuhada monument and was later introduced to the Principal Staff Officers of Naval Headquarters.

During the meeting, matters pertaining to Regional Maritime Security and operational readiness of the Pakistan Navy were discussed.

The Prime Minister especially appreciated the professional response of the Pakistan Navy to foil the recent terrorist attack on Naval Airbase Turbat. The Prime Minister stressed that a strong economy holds the key to meet all the challenges faced by the country.

The Naval Chief thanked the Prime Minister for his visit and rep
osing his confidence in the Navy.

He also assured that Pakistan Navy will continue to defend the country’s sea frontiers and maritime interests and will fulfill its duties with honour both during peace and war.

The Naval Chief apprised the Prime Minister of role, capabilities and future modernization plans of Pakistan Navy.

A detailed briefing was also given on the prevailing maritime environment, challenges being faced by Pakistan Navy and its response to meet the challenges.

The Prime Minister was especially apprised of capability requirements of Pakistan Navy to meet the current and future challenges being faced by the country in the maritime domain.

He was briefed about measures to benefit from economic prospects of the maritime sector.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed for early completion of Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop-3

project.

During a surprise visit of the site, she directed to take necessary steps for construction of Ring Road Southern Loop-4 and announced to construct the SL 4 Maraka to Sharqpur Interchange M3.

The Chief Minister also instructed to plant local saplings at Lahore Ring Road Interchange on Multan Road.
