Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has directed all ministries to work expeditiously on the implementation of the five corridors of CPEC 2.0, which include Growth, Livelihood, Innovation, Green Development, and Regional Connectivity. He was chairing the 91st CPEC Review Meeting in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that CPEC 2.0 offers significant opportunities to build upon the successes of CPEC 1.0 by leveraging investments in energy and physical infrastructure. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Government of Sindh briefed participants on the latest progress of the Karachi Coastal Comprehensive Development Zone (KCCDZ) project. Expressing concern over implementation delays, the Federal Minister directed all stakeholders to submit their observations within the week and resolve all outstanding issues without further delay.
During the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal also reviewed the progress of the initiative to train 1,000 agriculture graduates in China. He stressed that the expertise acquired by the trained graduates must be effectively utilized for the benefit of Pakistan's agricultural sector. Emphasizing the need to align training with national priorities, he called for a greater focus on biotechnology, seed development, high-yield crop varieties, digital extension services, AI-driven agriculture, and cooperative farm management.
He further instructed officials to develop a five-year human resource and sectoral development roadmap so that future training programs are based on the country's actual agricultural needs.
