Death anniversary of singer Asad Amanat Ali Khan observed


The 17th death anniversary of renowned classical semi-classical, and playback singer Asad Amanat Ali Khan was observed today [Monday].

Born in 1955, Asad Amanat Ali Khan hailed from famous Patiala Gharana. He was son of famous singer Ustad Amanat Ali Khan.

His famous songs include; Kal Chowdhwein Ki Raat thi, Ankhain ghazal hain ap ki, awaz woh jaadu sa jagati hui aawaz, ghar wapis jabaao gy tum and umraan langiyan pabbhaan phaar.

Government of Pakistan awarded him Pride of Performance in 2007.

Asad Amanat Ali Khan died on this day in 2007 in London.

Death anniversary of poet Munawwar Badayuni being observed today


The 40th death anniversary of legendary Urdu poet Munawwar Badayuni is being observed today.

Manawwar Badayuni’s real name was Saqlain Ahmed and he was born on December 2, 1908 in Badayun, India.

Manawwar Badayuni got fame by his Hamdiya and Naatiya poetry.

He died on this day in 1984 in Karachi.

Radio Pakistan’s magazine AAHANG becomes part of Federal Govt’s combined media list


Radio Pakistan’s monthly magazine AAHANG has achieved another milestone by becoming part of Federal Government’s combined media list.

It will enable the AAHANG to publish all types of government advertisements, media campaigns on government approved rate.

It is pertinent to mention that AAHANG has a long history of continued publication since 1948.

The magazine is known as an ambassador of Radio Pakistan and a leading publication carrying stories on various social issues, national and international affairs.

AAHANG also publishes interviews, features, short stories, essays, and poetry to support and commend various genres of literature.

3rd death anniversary of folk singer Shaukat Ali observed


The third death anniversary of famous folk singer Shaukat Ali was observed on Tuesday.

Shaukat Ali was born on May 3, 1944, in a family of artists at Malakwal town in District Gujrat.

He was known for singing Sufi poetry with great vigor and a wide vocal range.

Shaukat Ali was awarded the Pride of Performance in 1990.

Shaukat Ali also received other awards, including “the Voice of Punjab”, and “the Pride of Punjab”.

He died on this day in Lahore in 2021.

28th death anniversary of film lyricist Masroor Anwar observed


Renowned Pakistani Film Lyricist Masroor Anwar’s twenty-eighth death anniversary was observed on Monday.

Born in 1944 in Simla, Masroor Anwar was one of the most prominent lyricists of the Pakistani film industry from 1962 to 1990. He wrote songs for successful films including Heera Aur Pathar, Arman, Doraha, Saiqa, Anjuman, Pehchan, Qurbani, Saughat and Bulandi.

In the early 70’s, he also wrote some of the most memorable patriotic numbers such as Sohni Dharti Allah Rakhay, Apni Jaan Nazar Karoon, Watan Ki Mitti Gawah Rehna and Jug Jug Jiye Mera Pyara Watan.

He died on this day in 1996 in Lahore. Anwar was posthumously awarded with the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan.

The 126th death anniversary of Pakistan movement leader, scholar, Philosopher and educationist Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was observed on Wednesday.

Sir Syed is hailed as the father of the Two Nation Theory and one of the founding fathers of Pakistan, along with Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He was the founder of Aligarh movement which was the base of Pakistan movement.

He died on this day in 1898 in Aligarh, India.

Death anniversary of Haseena Moin observed


Third death anniversary of Pakistani dramatist, playwright and scriptwriter, Haseena Moin was observed on Tuesday.

She was born on 20 November in 1941 at Kanpur, United Provinces of British India and after independence of Pakistan in 1947, migrated with her family to Pakistan.

Haseena Moin wrote several plays for stage, radio, and television including ‘Tanhaiyan’, ‘Ankahi’ and ‘Dhoop Kinaray’.

She was the recipient of the Pride of Performance award for her services to the performing arts in Pakistan.

She passed away on this day in 2021 in Karachi.
