Retired Lt. Gen. Muhammad Abdul Aziz is The New Chairman of PPSC

Governor Punjab Baligh Ur Rehman has appointed Lieutenant General (Retired) Muhammad Abdul Aziz as the new Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).

According to a private news channel, the retired Lieutenant General will serve as the PPSC’s chairman for a three-year term.

The news channel added that the new PPSC chairman will receive a monthly salary of more than Rs. 900,000.

Former PPSC Chairman, Lieutenant General (Retired) Malik Zafar Iqbal, concluded his three-year tenure in February. Now, the Governor of Punjab has appointed Lieutenant General (Retired) Muhammad Abdul Aziz as his successor.

The notification regarding the appointment of the new PPSC chairman was issued by the Services and General Administration Department (SandGAD) on Tuesday.

Lahore High Court and Subordinate Courts to Remain Closed Tomorrow

In recognition of International Labor Day, the Lahore High Court (LHC) and subordinate courts across the province are scheduled to be closed on May 1st.

This decision is part of a holiday gazette notification issued by the Lahore High Court, officially marking May 1st as a holiday.

The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) also conveyed this decision to lawyers, ensuring stakeholders were informed.

Furthermore, the LHCBA displayed a notice regarding the holiday on their notice board to reach lawyers and litigants. As a result, legal proceedings and scheduled hearings for May 1st will be adjourned due to the closure of courts.

Moreover, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has also announced a bank holiday on May 1st. According to the SBP’s notification, banks across the country will remain closed tomorrow.

Earlier, the provincial government of Sindh also announced an off-day across the province on Labor Day. As per the notification, all the government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies,
corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government except essential services will have an off day on May 1, 2024.

Punjab Govt approves launch of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Kissan Card


The Punjab government has approved the launch of the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Kissan Card.

The approval was given during the meeting of provincial cabinet with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in the chair.

The meeting reviewed the proposal to provide direct cash subsidy to small wheat growers.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister said that all-out resources are available for farmers in Punjab.

During the meeting, provincial cabinet approved financial assistance of one million rupees each household for landslide-affected individuals in rural areas of Murree.

The meeting also accorded approval to restore the provision of free medicines for cancer patients.

IG Islamabad re-organizes Dolphin squad of Capital Territory Police


Inspector General Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has re-organized the Dolphin squad of Capital Territory Police.

Young police officers have been deployed in the Dolphin Emergency Response Unit and their departmental training has also been started in police lines.

The initiative will enhance capability of the force in crime control and will make patrolling more efficient.

Turkiye lauds professionalism of Pakistan’s Armed Forces


Commander Turkish Land Forces General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

They discussed matters relating to enhancing the scope of bilateral military engagements and cooperation as well as security and regional issues.

The visiting dignitary lauded the high professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in fight against terrorism.

Agreement signed for establishment of Pakistan Digital City in Haripur


Under the Special Investment Facilitation Council, a new agreement worth 8 billion rupees has been signed for establishment of Pakistan Digital City in Haripur.

The agreement has been signed between Special Technology Zones Authority and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board.

The Digital City will be the country’s first tax-free zone and all companies operating within it will be exempted from tax for next ten years.

About four thousand IT startups can be established in the city which spans over 11 acres of land and will be fully operational by 2026.

The project will not only increase IT exports to over 50 million dollars but will also provide employment opportunities to IT graduates.

Due to efforts of Special Investment Facilitation Council, 30 percent of work on Digital City has already been completed.

Earlier, an investment of 1642 million rupees was made in the City under Nespak and National Logistics Cell.

PM leaves for Pakistan after attending WEF


Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has left for home after attending the special session of World Economic Forum at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

At the Royal Airport terminal in Riyadh, the Prime Minister was seen off by senior officials of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi ambassador to Pakistan, Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia and other diplomatic staff.

On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Emir of Kuwait, Malaysian Prime Minister and high level Saudi officials.

This visit of the Prime Minister was of great significance for Pak-Saudi economic relations.
