Pakistan, Iranian, Egyptian FMs discuss Gaza situation

Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani has separately spoken to his Iranian and Egyptian counterparts to discuss the situation in Gaza, sufferings of Palestinians and urgent need of the humanitarian assistance.

In his talk with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossien Amir Abdollahian, Jalil Abbas Jilani said they discussed crises in Gaza, including killing of civilians and large-scale displacement of Palestinians from their homes. He said we agreed that urgent steps are needed to prevent conflict from escalating and provision of humanitarian assistance.

Talking to his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukri, the Pakistan Foreign Minister discussed preventing conflict from escalating, protecting civilians from collective punishment, starvation and displacement. He assured of all possible humanitarian assistance from Pakistan.

Caretaker PM directs to procure cotton on Govt fixed price

Taking notice of the procurement of cotton at less than the prescribed rate by the government, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has given clear instructions to procure cotton on the rate fixed by the government to save the farmer from losses.

He said having a bumper cotton crop is a good thing but its dividends should be reached to farmers.

He directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan to take notice and submit a report in this regard.

He said it has been observed that cotton is being purchased at some places on the rate lower than prices fixed by the government.

Caretaker Finance Minister vows to bring transparency in order to foster investor confidence

Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar has reiterated government’s commitment to bring transparency in order to foster investor confidence and maintaining a positive credit rating of Pakistan in the global financial markets.

The resolve was expressed in a meeting with a high-level delegation of Moody’s on the sidelines of the annual meeting of WB/IMF in Morocco.

Federal Govt to provide all assistance to KP for welfare of public: Caretaker PM

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali and Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan met Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar in Peshawar on Friday.

They briefed the Prime Minister about various matters including the law and order situation in the province.

Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said the federal government will provide all possible assistance to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the welfare of the public.

PM Approves 140% Increase in Executive Allowance of FBR Officers

The interim Prime Minister has approved a 140 percent executive allowance for Federal Board of Revenue grade 17 or above officers.

The PM on the recommendation of the Finance division has approved a summary pertaining to the rationalization of allowances of FBR headquarters.

In this regard, a letter has been issued by the interim Prime Minister to the FBR Chairman on the rationalization of allowance of the FBR.

According to the summary approved by PM, the said allowance shall be admissible with effect from November 1, 2023, and the expenditure involved shall be met by the FBR from its allocated budget for the current fiscal year 2023-24.

A senior official of FBR said that the PM has approved a 140% allowance for officers serving in FBR headquarters. Sources said that FBR will have to bear approximately an additional Rs. 300 million for this allowance during this fiscal year.

Earlier, the Finance division on the recommendation of FBR in July 2023 asked the PM office not only to defreeze the Performance Allowance of 1,724 field formations officers but a disparity reduction allowance of 40 percent for all employees (BS 1 to 16) however the previous government did not approve the proposal.
