Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has expressed Pakistan's full support for strengthening multilateralism and ensuring the central role of the United Nations in global affairs. He conveyed these sentiments during a meeting with Mara Fernanda Espinosa, the former Foreign Minister of Ecuador and current candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, who visited him in Islamabad today.
According to Radio Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister Dar welcomed Mara Fernanda and expressed hope that the incoming Secretary-General would implement much-needed reforms within the United Nations. He emphasized the importance of enforcing longstanding UN Security Council resolutions, particularly those concerning Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir, which are vital for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East and South Asia.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan's dedication to promoting the purposes and principles enshrined in the UN Charter. He stressed the importance of respecting international law and treaties, as well as fostering active international cooperation to ensure global peace and prosperity.
