Death Anniversary of Mehdi Hassan Observed

Karachi: The 14th death anniversary of renowned singer known as Shahenshah-e-Ghazal, Mehdi Hassan Khan, was observed on Saturday. He was a celebrated figure in the world of music, with a career that left an indelible mark on the industry.

According to Radio Pakistan, Mehdi Hassan was born on July 18, 1927, in India. He moved to Pakistan where, in 1957, he was given the opportunity to sing on Radio Pakistan, primarily as a Thumri singer. His unique voice and style quickly gained him recognition and respect.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mehdi Hassan was honored with numerous awards, including prestigious accolades such as Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance, and Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan. These honors reflect his significant contributions to the music world.

Mehdi Hassan sang for over 300 films, captivating audiences with his soulful performances. His legacy continues to influence and inspire new generations of musicians and fans.
