Pakistan and Congo Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Defence Cooperation

Islamabad: A high-level defence delegation from Congo met with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Rawalpindi today. The delegation was led by Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of Congo, Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules. Upon their arrival at GHQ, the Congolese delegation received a Guard of Honour from a tri-services contingent.

According to Radio Pakistan, discussions during the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment, and avenues for enhanced bilateral defence and security cooperation. Both dignitaries expressed satisfaction with the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at broadening and strengthening defence and security cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules also met with Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. The visiting dignitary praised the professionalism, operational capabilities, and commitment of the Armed Forces of Pakistan towards maintaining peace and stability in the region. He also acknowledged the significant progress Pakistan has made through indigenization and self-reliance.
