Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan's support for Syria's sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and political independence during a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan's commitment to its historic and fraternal relations with Syria and expressed a willingness to assist in Syria's reconstruction and economic recovery. He conveyed good wishes to the Syrian people as they work toward national stabilization, cohesion, peace, and economic recovery.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the significance of dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to the principles of the UN Charter in fostering peace and stability in the region. The discussion between the two leaders also focused on strengthening bilateral relations through enhanced high-level exchanges, activating institutional mechanisms, and collaborating in trade and investment, education, information technology, and other areas of mutual interest.
Additionally, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and stressed the need for a just and lasting resolution of the Palestine issue in line with relevant United Nations resolutions and international law.
