Private Sector Credit Expands by Rs1.46 Trillion in FY2026: Khurram

Islamabad: Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad says Pakistan's private sector credit has expanded by 1.46 trillion rupees during Financial Year 2026. In a post on his X handle, he said this marks the strongest annual increase in four years, reaching 11.38 trillion rupees.

According to Radio Pakistan, Khurram Schehzad said business credit has increased by 1.18 trillion rupees, which is fourteen percent, accounting for over eighty percent of the overall increase in private sector credit. He noted that this reflects rising financing for productive economic activity.

The Adviser to the Finance Minister stated that nearly eighty-nine percent of the increase in private-sector business credit was concentrated in three productive sectors: manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and agriculture.

Khurram Schehzad further explained that the broad-based increase in financing across Pakistan's productive sectors reflects strengthening business confidence, rising private investment, and the positive impact of macroeconomic stability, easing financial conditions, and ongoing structural reforms.
