Coalition Govt condemns Imran Khan for threatening female judge & police officials

The parties in coalition government have strongly condemned the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan’s statement in which he hurled threats to Islamabad police and a woman judge.

In a joint statement, the coalition parties including Pakistan Muslim League (N), Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and others denunciated the derogatory speech made by Imran Khan against the Additional District and Sessions court Judge Zeba Chaudhry and Islamabad police officials during a rally at F-9 Park in Islamabad.

The statement said that Imran Khan uttered the name of the woman judge in the PTI rally and intimidated her.

The parties in the coalition government sought legal action against Imran and his aides for threatening the female judge and interfering in the matters of Interior Ministry.

PM orders inquiry into levy of increased Sales Tax on small traders through electricity bills

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed to launch an inquiry into the levy of increased Sales Tax ratio on small traders through electricity bills other than the agreed one.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore, he also immediately suspended the fixed Sales Tax collection through electricity bills and directed to evolve a new mechanism in this regard.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister specially asked for the inclusion of representatives of traders in consultation process prior to taking any decision for collection of taxes from small traders through the utility bills.

Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his government’s resolve to take all steps for economic protection of poor segments of the society.

He also directed the concerned authorities and ministries concerned to immediately devise an effective mechanism for slashing the electricity rates for the poor.

Pak-US partnership to serve interests of peace, security & stability: Ambassador Masood

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Masood Khan says strong Pak-US partnership will serve interests of peace, security and stability of the region and across the World.

He said this during a meeting with retired US General David H. Petraeus in Washington.

The Ambassador thanked David H. Petraeus for his contributions towards strengthening Pak-US relations. He said that he looks forward to working with him to promote Pak-US economic ties.

General David Petraeus has been commanding NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and U.S. Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A) during 2010-11. He had also served as Director CIA.
