Chinese President, Premier felicitate Shehbaz on his election as PM


Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang have congratulated Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his election as Prime Minister of Pakistan.

President Xi Jinping in his message expressed the confidence that under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif Pakistan would be able to make new and greater achievements in the cause of national development and progress.

He stressed that China and Pakistan would continue their traditional friendship and cooperation in various fields.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang has also sent a congratulatory message to the newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Marriyum Aurangzeb vows to implement vision presented by PM-elect


PML -N Leader Marriyum Aurangzeb says the vision and manifesto presented by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the Parliament regarding the progress and development of country will be materialized in letter and spirit.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, she said that newly elected Prime Minister has tremendous credentials of governance.

She said that Shehbaz Sharif has vast experience of public serving as his performance was matchless during his tenure of Chief Minister Ship in Punjab.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said he put concrete endeavors during sixteen months to save country from insolvency.

She vowed to resume the journey of progress of country from 2018 despite facing the difficult circumstances.

She criticized the opposition over their undemocratic attitude during the session of Parliament. She negated the view of opposition of rigging in the general elections.

Responding to a question, she said opposition wants to create anarchy and chaos in country by repeating the ominous episode of 9th M
ay but our mission is to curb the rate of inflation and steer the country out from the crisis.

Answering another question, she expressed resolve to introduce best model of governance in the country with transparency as an essential hallmark of the present government.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Federal and Punjab cabinet both will be announced soon.

Five-day anti-polio campaign underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa


The second phase of five-day anti-polio campaign is underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During this phase, more than seven point one million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio vaccine drops.

The children will also be administered a supplementary dose of ‘Vitamin-A’ during the drive.

Meanwhile, anti-polio campaign has been postponed in Malakand and Hazara divisions for two days due to heavy rains.

According to Emergency Operations Center, the polio drive in these divisions will commence from Tuesday.

NA secretariat issues notification regarding Shehbaz Sharif’s election as PM


The National Assembly Secretariat has issued a notification regarding Shehbaz Sharif’s election as the Prime Minister.

The notification said ‘Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, a member of the National Assembly (NA-123), has been elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan under Article 91 of the Constitution of Pakistan by the members of the National Assembly having secured 201 votes.

Pakistan Army engaged in rescuing people stranded at Karakoram Highway


Pakistan Army, with the collaboration of civil defence is fully engaged to rescue the stranded people and removing debris from the Karakoram Highway due to the land sliding.

The Karakoram Highway was blocked due to the three-day continuous rainfall cum land sliding.

Yesterday, people stuck in twenty vehicles were rescued by Pakistan Army. The stranded people were offered edibles and medicines from the Gilgit Baltistan Scouts.

A drone was also used to make the rescue operation more effective. Similarly, Frontier Works Organization and Civil Defence both participated in the road clearance operations along with Pakistan Army.

The affected families commended the timely response of Pakistan Army and civil defence in the wake of land sliding.
