Joint session of Parliament to be held on March 9


Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has called the joint session of the parliament on Saturday at ten in the morning.

The Speaker called the joint session in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of Rule 9 of the Presidential Election Rules, 1988.

Sindh Governor, CM felicitate newly elected PM Shehbaz Sharif


Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Governor Kamran Khan Tessori have congratulated Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on being elected as Prime Minister.

In their separate messages, they said the election of the Prime Minister is proof of the successful progress of the democratic process in the country.

They said Shehbaz Sharif is a senior parliamentarian and experienced politician and it is hoped that the country will progress during his tenure.

2nd phase of 5-day anti-polio campaign begins in KP today


The second phase of five-day anti-polio campaign begins in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.

During the second phase, more than seven point one million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio vaccine drops.

The children will also be administered a supplementary dose of ‘Vitamin-A’ during the drive.

Rescue, relief operations underway in flood-hit areas of Gwadar


In Balochistan, Pakistan Army in coordination with other concerned departments has been continuing rescue and relief operations in flood-affected areas of Gwadar.

Similarly, dewatering process is also continuing at different localities of Gwadar, Jiwani and Surbandar hit by flashfloods.

The Pakistan Army has so far distributed twenty eight tons of cooked food and dry ration among more than thirteen hundred affected people.

Pakistan Army has also established free mobile medical camps in remote areas of Balochistan province particularly Jiwani to provide medical facilities to the affectees free of cost.

Moreover, work for restoration of damaged roads due to floods is also in full swing.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Army also successfully rescued the tourists, trapped at Kalam-Behrain Road in Swat due to land sliding. Most of the tourists belonged to different cities of Punjab including Lahore.

The teams of Pak Army are active in rescuing and shifting the tourists to safer places in Kalam and Behrain, who are stuck
there due to heavy snowfall. They are also being provided with food and other relief goods.

KP: 21 die due to heavy rains during last 48 hours


In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at least 21 people died and 37 other injured due to heavy rains during the last forty-eight hours.

According to a report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, at least thirty houses were completely while ninety-seven houses partially damaged across the province.

Meanwhile, the concerned district administrations are working to reopen the blocked roads for smooth flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has directed to provide relief and compensation cheques to the affected families.

He also directed for opening of closed road and provide facilities to people stuck in rains and landsliding.

The Chief Minister also directed PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations to be alert and facilitate people.

Talking to APP, DG PDMA Muhammad Qaiser Khan said that directives have been issued to all DCs to carry out relief and rescue operations in the rain-affected areas.
