14th death anniversary of religious scholar Dr. Israr Ahmed observed


Renowned religious scholar Dr. Israr Ahmed’s 14th death anniversary was observed on Sunday.

Dr. Israr Ahmed was born on 26th April, 1932 and graduated from King Edwards College Lahore in 1954.

He received Master’s degree in Islamic studies from Karachi University in 1965.

Later he devoted his life for trying to reawaken interest in Quran-based Islamic philosophy. Dr. Israr Ahmed has sixty books to his credit on different aspects of Islam besides numerous audio and video lectures on teachings of Quran.

The religious scholar was honored with Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 1981 in acknowledgement of his services in religious instruction.

Pakistan calls for Int’l efforts to prevent expansion of hostilities in Middle East


Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the ongoing developments in the Middle East and called on all parties to exercise utmost restraint and move towards de-escalation.

In a statement today, the Foreign Office said that Pakistan had pointed on 2nd of this month, to the dangers of attack on an Iranian consular office in Syria as a major escalation in an already volatile region and today’s developments demonstrate the consequences of the breakdown of diplomacy.

It said that for months, Pakistan has underlined the necessity of international efforts to prevent expansion of hostilities in the region and for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Foreign Office said that these also underline the grave implications in cases where the UN Security Council is unable to fulfill its responsibilities of maintaining international peace and security.

It is now critically urgent to stabilize the situation and restore peace.

Pakistan is deeply saddened and shocked over the terrible and tragic events at Westfield Bondi Junction in S
ydney, Australia.

In a statement, the Foreign Office expressed thoughts and prayers with the families of those who have lost their lives and prayed for the early recovery of injured.

KSA to invest $1b in Reko Diq Copper Gold project in Chagai


A Saudi investment of up to one billion dollars is likely next month in the Reko Diq Copper Gold project located in Chagai district in Balochistan.

Special Investment Facilitation Council is trying to remove obstacles in this regard.

In order to ensure the smooth completion of Saudi investments, the Prime Minister will constitute a committee of Finance Ministry, comprising all stakeholders of country.

Following this investment, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will sign agreements for further investment in the mining sector.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed heartfelt felicitations to Pakistan based Sikh community and all over the world celebrating the Baisakhi festival.

In his message of felicitation, he termed Baisakhi as the symbol of spring season and the festival of spreading love and happiness.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the Government of Pakistan and its provincial governments ensure to provide all out facilities to Sikh pilgrims coming from all over the world to perform Baisakhi rituals.

Finance Minister arrives in US to participate in meetings of IMF, World Bank


Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has arrived in Washington D.C, United States to participate in the spring meetings of IMF and World Bank.

On arrival at the airport, Ambassador of Pakistan to United States Masood Khan and the officers of the Embassy of Pakistan welcomed the Finance Minister.

During his stay in US, the Finance Minister will meet IMF and World Bank officials. Meetings with international media and think tank representatives are also included in the Finance Minister’s schedule.

President Zardari, PM Shehbaz felicitate Sikh community on Baisakhi festival


President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have felicitated Sikh community on the celebration of Baisakhi festival.

In their message on this event, they that this occasion gives message of love, happiness, peace and affection.

He said that Pakistan felt pride over its diverse cultural heritage.

The President said that Pakistan will ensure all steps to facilitate the Sikh community.

Asif Ali Zardari said that Pakistan acknowledged the contributions made by minorities in the progress and development of the country and is committed to safeguard the rights of all minorities.

In his felicitation message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Government of Pakistan and all the provincial governments are ensuring provision of all facilities to the Sikh Yatrees who were visiting their religious places in Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif termed Baisakhi as the festival of spreading love and happiness.

President summons joint session of Parliament on Thursday


President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned joint session of Parliament on Thursday at 4:00 in the afternoon.

The session has been summoned under Articles 54 (1) and 56 (3) of the Constitution.

The previous notification for the joint session on Tuesday stands cancelled.
