Finance Minister lauds UK for supporting flood-hit Pakistan

Deputy Leader of Opposition in UK Angela Rayner and Member of UK House of Lords Wajid Khan called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Bilateral relations as well as issues of regional importance were discussed during the meeting.

Ishaq Dar shared the devastation caused by the recent floods in Pakistan and said that huge losses have been incurred to the economy of the country.

Discussing Pak-UK bilateral relations, the Finance Minister expressed satisfaction at the level of friendship between the two countries and hoped that the existing cooperation between both the countries will further strengthen in the future.

He also appreciated the contribution of Pakistani Diaspora toward economic development of the UK and building bridges between the two countries.

The Finance Minister thanked the visiting dignitaries for their support for the flood affectees.

PM thanks EU for providing €30m aid to flood-hit Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that he is grateful to European Union, particularly the President of EU Commission for the announcement of 30 million euros in new humanitarian aid for Pakistan.

In a tweet on Tuesday, he said the gravity of food and health challenges can be met through deeper cooperation from the world.

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority Keen to Invest in Pakistan: Envoy

Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi on Tuesday expressed keen interest of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority to invest in Pakistan.

The envoy called on Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar at Finance Division. The two shared views on enhancing and strengthening the bilateral economic relations between both countries.

The finance minister stated that Pakistan and UAE share long-standing bilateral ties in several areas. He also highlighted that the government is focused on various avenues of mutual interest so that the existing bilateral relations could be extended to a new level.

The minister assured the envoy of full support and cooperation from the government.

PM orders to make Digital Flood Dashboard more credible

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Ministry of Information Technology to make the dashboard for real-time monitoring of relief being provided to flood victims more credible and transparent as per international standards.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the dashboard that was postponed as Prime Minister suggested some important improvement in it.

On this occasion, after a detailed briefing on flood related relief activities by various departments, the Prime Minister also directed to hold a conference of international donors on Thursday to request them for arranging most needed food items, medicines and shelters.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal stressed the need to prepare ourselves for dealing negative impacts of climate change.

The Minister said the dashboard that is being developed will help us dealing any future disaster management through efficient coordination mechanism.

PM to launch real-time monitoring dashboard of flood relief activities today

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will launch a dashboard for real-time monitoring of relief being provided to flood affected people in Islamabad on Monday.

This will provide information to the general public about the local and international assistance being received and disbursed amongst the flood victims.

A website for assisting flood victims, a comprehensive flood relief management system, digital applications for field workers and an executive dashboard for the policy and decision-making are also included in the flood response system.

PTI playing politics on prevailing flood situation: Ahsan

Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that it is unfortunate that PTI is busy in doing politics in these testing times instead of making concerted efforts to reduce sufferings of the flood-affected people in the country.

Addressing a ceremony in Narowal on Sunday, the Minister said Imran Khan is playing with Pakistan’s interests to keep his politics alive.

The Minister said Imran Khan’s audio leak has ‘shattered’ foreign conspiracy narrative.

Türkiye’s 13th ‘Kindness Train’ sets off for flood-hit Pakistan

Türkiye’s 13th “Kindness Train” carrying 554 tons of relief supplies for flood victims, has set off for Pakistan.

Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management in a statement said the train has left Ankara and is expected to reach Islamabad in about two weeks.

The shipment was ordered by Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

It will raise the total Turkish aid for flood affected people of Pakistan transported by rail alone to roughly 7,290 tons.

Federal cabinet approves legal action against Imran Khan over ‘cipher’ audios

The cabinet has approved to hold investigation and legal action into recent audio leaks of PTI Chairman regarding diplomatic cipher.

According to the details, the federal cabinet approved the recommendations of a Cabinet Committee through circulation which was formed to inquire the matter.

The cabinet committee recommended that legal action is necessary as it is a matter of national security.

It recommended forming a committee of senior official of Federal Investigation Agency to investigate the matter. The FIA may also include officers and personnel from intelligence agencies in the team.
