President directs NSs to pay profit on special savings certificates to the citizen

Accepting a representation of an aggrieved citizen against a decision of the Wafaqi Mohtasib, President Dr Arif Alvi has directed the Central Directorate of National Savings to pay profit on the Special Saving Certificates as per the profit rate prevailing at the time of purchasing the certificates.

According to President Secretariat Press Wing, the President said that Central Directorate of National Savings has committed maladministration by revising the profit rates retrospectively and in contradiction to the existing law, thus causing the citizen a loss of 5.3 million rupees.

The president accepted the representation of plaintiff Yasmin Marchant and held that the complainant was entitled to the profit rate prevailing on the date of issuance of certificates

PM in London to attend state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is in London to attend the state funeral of late Queen Elizabeth II.

According to Foreign Office, the Prime Minister will represent Pakistan at the state funeral of late Queen Elizabeth II in London on Monday.

Later, he will leave for the United States to participate in the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly, beginning in New York from Monday.

According to Foreign Office, the Prime Minister will address the UN General Assembly on Friday.

In his address, he will focus on the challenge faced by Pakistan in wake of the recent climate-induced catastrophic floods in the country.

The Prime Minister will outline concrete proposals for collectively tackling the existential threat posed by climate change.

He will also share Pakistan’s position and perspective on regional and global issues of concern, including Jammu and Kashmir, which is one of the long-standing unresolved disputes on the UN agenda.

Govt determines to early complete relief, rehabilitation process in flood-hit areas: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the entire nation is united for relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people and the government is determined to complete the rehabilitation phase at the earliest.

Talking to media persons in London on Sunday, he said the government has allocated seventy billion rupees to provide relief to the flood affected people.

The Prime Minister said a cash assistance of twenty five thousand rupees is being provided to each flood affected family in the country through Benazir Income Support Programme.

He said the Federal Government, in collaboration with provinces, is providing food, tents, blankets and other essential items to the flood victims.

Shehbaz Sharif said people are generously contributing to Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund and all state institutions are working tirelessly for relief and rehabilitation of flood victims.

He appreciated the role of the armed forces in helping the flood hit people. He also thanked friendly countries and humanitarian organizations for their assistance to help the flood affected people of Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said the government is focusing on relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people but some political orphans want chaos in the country.

She said the government is fully committed for rehabilitation of flood victims.

Answering a question regarding PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s demand for an early general election, she said the general election cannot be held on the wishes of an individual as it will be held according to schedule

Corps Commander Peshawar visits Swat, meets tribal elders

Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Azhar Hayat visited Swat and met tribal elders and notables of Malakand, Buner, Shangla and Mardan.

The Corps Commander appreciated local elders for their all-out and unflinching support to security forces during war against terrorism, particularly the Swat Operation.

The Corps Commander said the Army will do everything possible to ensure that no one takes law in his own hands.

The tribal elders assured that they would fully support security forces and law enforcement agencies.

Punjab Governor appreciates Spain’s support for GSP Plus status to Pakistan

He also appreciated Spain’s role in the European Union on the issue of GI tagging of basmati rice.

The Governor Punjab said Spain is Pakistan’s third largest trading partner in the European Union
