4th, last cycle of training of former personnel of Khasadar & Levies concludes

Fourth and last cycle of the training of former personnel of Khasadar and Levies by Pakistan Army and FC was concluded in the tribal districts of Bajaur, Mohmand and Khyber.

According to ISPR, these individuals will now form part of regular police force of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This program was part of Government Policy under which 20,000 personnel from former Khasadar and Levies of newly merged districts were imparted training under the supervision of Pakistan Army and FC.

The training was conducted in different fields including use of different weapons, mines and IED detection methods, public dealing, policing, search operations, counter-terrorism operations, and physical fitness.

KP govt taking measures to provide relief to people: CM Mahmood

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan says the government is taking measures to provide maximum relief to the people.

Presiding over a meeting in Peshawar on Friday, he said provincial government is seriously considering giving assistance to the people on daily commodities and edible items in the next budget.

Mahmood Khan said a subsidy of fifteen billion rupees has been given on wheat this year.

During the meeting, matters pertaining to the performance of the food department and digitization were also discussed.

Timely completion of important uplift projects top priority: CM KP

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has said that the timely completion of important development projects is one of the top priorities of government.

Chairing a progress review meeting of health department in Peshawar, he directed all the provincial departments to immediately start process of hiring human resource and procurement of equipment for the development projects with 75 percent of civil work completed so that the project could be operationalized without any delay when civil work is completed.

Mahmood Khan particularly directed the health department to take concrete steps in order to operationalize the newly completed project in a timely manner.

To operationalize the equipment provided to the hospitals of merged areas, the chief minister has directed to immediately complete work on providing express lines of electricity to the hospitals.

During the meeting, he was briefed that around 166 development projects are being implemented in the health sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for which more than 23 billion rupees has been allocated in the budget of the current financial year.

Punjab Governor calls for fostering trade ties with Tashkent

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has stressed the need of fostering stronger trade ties between the business communities of Punjab and Tashkent besides promoting closer people-to-people contacts.

During his visit to Uzbekistan, Governor Punjab met Governor Tashkent Jakhongir Artikkhodjayev.

Both dignitaries agreed to exchange business men delegations to promote trade while a delegation of Tashkent investors would soon visit Punjab.

The delegation from Punjab met representatives of the Tashkent business community and discussed ways to promote bilateral relations, trade ties and cooperation.

CDWP Okays Karachi Circular Railway Project Worth Rs. 273 Billion

President Dr. Arif Alvi says the entire nation recognizes matchless sacrifices rendered by soldiers to purge motherland of terrorism.

Talking to heirs of eighteen security personnel martyred in different acts of terrorism on telephone, the President said nation is proud of these sacrifices of martyrs.

President Dr. Arif Alvi also telephoned to families of ten soldiers martyred in Kech area of Balochistan and expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of lives.

EC issues revised schedule of local bodies elections in 18 districts of KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election Commission has issued revised schedule of conducting second phase of local bodies elections in eighteen districts of the province.

According to a press release of ECP, the districts include Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Kohistan Upper, Kohistan Lower, Kolai Palas Kohistan, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Chitral Upper, Chitral Lower, Kurram, Orakzai, North Waziristan and South Waziristan. Public notice for invitation of nomination Papers will be issued by the Returning Officer on 10th of this month.

Candidates can file their nomination papers from 14th to 18th of this month.

The polling will be held on 31st March.

Hammad Azhar announces to increase LPG supply for Gilgit Baltistan

Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar has announced to increase supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas for Gilgit Baltistan to help reduce LPG cylinder price in the region.

Talking to Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khursheed in Islamabad today (Tuesday), he expressed the resolve to invest in power sector infrastructure in Gilgit Baltistan to ensure connectivity of the region with the national grid.

He said the move shall revolutionize the power supply and boost the tourism sector of Gilgit Baltistan.

Hammad Azhar also set deadline for operationalization of LPG Air Mix Plant in Gilgit within six months.

Speaking on the occasion, the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister appreciated the reforms in energy sector undertaken by the federal government for the development of the region.

EC directs to ensure arrangements for local body elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan has directed all the Provincial Election Commissioners to ensure completion of all arrangements pertaining to the conduct of local body elections in provinces.

To this effect, an important meeting of the Election Commission was held in Islamabad on Tuesday with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in the chair.

The ECP reiterated that it is ready to conduct local government elections.

The meeting was briefed that delimitations of constituencies in Islamabad Capital Territory for local government elections will be completed on 16th of this month, Balochistan 10 March, Punjab 22 March, and Sindh 24th March this year.

The meeting was also informed that a project management unit has been established at the Election Commission regarding the use of Electronic Voting Machines.

The Commission directed that all matters related to this project should be given priority to ensure immediate progress in this regard.
